It’s already Q2 for the MTA LevelUp at Mugello, the track where the Moto3 class completed the two rounds on Friday. After a time of 1’56″224, Stefano Nepa achieved the seventh overall performance of the day, showing off speed and consistency as proverbial personal qualities and those of the KTM fielded by Alessandro Tonucci. Obstacles to overcome for Nicola Carraro, never really attacking the ideal time. The need to perfect the set-up and engage in confident and precise driving is the objective on Saturday morning, and then aim for reference qualifications.
Alessandro Tonucci, Team Manager: “The notable aspect of the time achieved by Nepa is the virtual absence of other people’s wakes, that is, a lap carried out on a clear track. Stefano went very well today, I’m happy with his speed and the work done with the team. Knowing we can do even better, we will exploit the margin available to us. Carraro completed few steps, a limitation that did not help us resolve the problems encountered in gaining confidence with the front. Nicola suffered in controlling the front end, but we intend to put him in a position to express himself at one hundred percent tomorrow.”
#82 Stefano Nepa, P7: “Very good first day of testing, I feel satisfied with the feeling established with the bike. Things are going well and when everything is working, I enjoy it. We are fast and competitive, also because the time was achieved on an open track. We are preparing the race as best we can, working together and convinced that we can have a beautiful Italian Grand Prix.”
#10 Nicola Carraro, P23: “I struggled a lot today, as I wasn’t fully confident with the bike, both in the first free practice session and in the afternoon. The weekend is still long, so the team and I want to do better tomorrow, much better. The desire to do well in the Italian Grand Prix is the same, or rather, greater.”
