Intense and hard-fought qualifying in Moto3 at Mugello, from which LevelUp MTA took less than what the riders, KTM and teams had at their disposal. Twelfth is Stefano Nepa, author of a time of 1’55″654, not explosive on the flying lap, but promising in view of the Sunday Grand Prix. Twenty-first starting position for Nicola Carraro, 1’56″946 and a great desire to get back on top after a peremptory start and subsequent comeback. The data recorded in the timed trials are encouraging, per step over the long potential distance of top ten points.Â
Alessandro Tonucci, Team Manager: “We wanted to do much better in this qualifying, both with Stefano and together with Nicola. The tire change carried out by the team was really good, but little was used by Nepa, in a fast lap that earned him the twelfth overall performance. It’s not bad, but more should have been collected. Carraro could repeat the progress shown up until Friday at Montmelò, however he struggled to take the next evolutionary step. Twenty-first does not mean having him out of the game, it is clear how important it will be to make a decisive comeback. We hope to improve tomorrow, knowing that we have KTMs that are fast on the straight and with race pace that promises to move up important positions. Potentially, we can compete with our rivals for finishing positions in the leading group.”Â
#82 Stefano Nepa P12: “During the Time Attack I was doing well, before a slight but significant loss of the front, luckily I recovered, obviously fatal in the attempt which proved to be unsuccessful. Twelfth on the grid means having to put everything at the start, and then benefit from the excellent race pace recorded in long-distance testing. This is the Italian Grand Prix, the commitment will be one hundred percent and even more.”
#10 Nicola Carraro, P21: “In the first run of Q1 I was in a good position, ahead of the group that made it up. In the second attempt, however, a couple of inaccuracies excluded me from a possible Q2. I will start twenty-first, with the full and undisputed desire to have a good race to repay the team’s work, myself and our fans.”
