Four Lap Penalties for the LevelUp MTA Team in Germany, however well handled by Stefano Nepa and Nicola Carraro. In a difficult race full of unexpected events, number 82 did well to maintain calm and speed, reaching twelfth place, worth 4 world championship points. After the punishment, the reaction and rankings are still moving in 2024. Seventeenth position for Carraro, in the unprecedented regulatory situation and on a track discovered on Friday morning. The rookie accumulates important knowledge for the next away games.
Alessandro Tonucci, Team Manager: “The Sachsenring closed the first part of the season, of which I draw up a balance below the real expectations entertained. Today’s race didn’t satisfy me and the team as it was played out with numerous penalties and fatigue. But there are also positive aspects: Stefano Nepa took points, Nicola Carraro learned new things. We will need the summer break to recharge our batteries, in view of a continuation of the championship in which we can exploit our maximum potential.”
#82 Stefano Nepa, P12: “Friday fantastic and full of hope, Saturday conditioned by penalties and Sunday a comeback, despite respecting the Long Lap Penalty. In the first laps I was going fast, I was fast, but I was looking for more. Twelfth and the related points in the standings for me and the team repay part of our commitment, but at least we moved the standings at the Sachsenring too.”
#10 Nicola Carraro, P17: “Today I complied with three Long LapPenalties, but I think I have learned my lesson. Without the penalties my race would have come out differently, certainly better than the seventeenth place I obtained. The bike worked very well throughout the track, but I wasn’t able to exploit its full potential. Between Germany and Silverstone there will be a period of rest and contextual training.”
